NSnet Peer Review of Takasago Equipment Plant, Kobe Steel, Ltd., conducted over a three-day period starting June 17th, was completed. A summary of the review is shown below.


1. Reviewed Establishment (location)
Takasago Equipment Plant, Kobe Steel, Ltd., located in Takasago-city, Hyogo Prefecture.

2. Overview of the establishment and targets of review
The Takasago Equipment Plant, Kobe Steel Ltd. is part of Takasago Works. Takasago Works began in the steel castings snd forgings division in 1953. It was mainly moved from other Works in the company, and expanded and developed to handle mainly "machinery", "titanium", "steel powder" and "energy and nuclear equipment". Of these, the representative equipment in "nuclear power equipment" includes spent fuel transport casks and storage casks and so on. Design and manufacturing of these casks (containers) takes place at the Takasago Equipment Plant.
The target of this review is the safety promotion activities involving design and fabrication of casks at Takasago Equipment Plant.
