Description of the Division’s activities
|

The Operating Experience Analysis Division assumes and develops activities related to the collection, analysis, and use of operating experience information that was previously handled by the Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry Nuclear Information Center. The Division conducts activities focused on providing recommendations, information for operation management and equipment maintenance activities, and support for improving utilities' safety activities based on the information analysis results. Also, the Division supports utilities' safety activities for quality assurance and RCA promotion and proliferation activities.

Operating experience information of domestic and international nuclear power facilities is collected, organized, and put in a database, and promptly provided to utilities.

|
Domestic and international operating experience information is analyzed and evaluated for use in preventing accidents and malfunction, and recommendation, caution, suggestion, and notification documents are issued for significant events, according to their level of importance.
|
|
The operating experience information of the nuclear power facilities are disclosed to the public through "NUCIA" and are shared and used among the utilities.
|
|
The Division analyzes and evaluates operating performance so that utilities can pursue the world's highest level of performance, and supports utilities' safety activities.

Cooperation in and support of utilities' safety
activities related to quality assurance |

Information related to quality assurance activities in the nuclear power facilities are collected, analyzed, and shared in support of utilities' safety activities.
|
|
Utilities implement RCA with the objective of identifying the cause of significant events and preventing such events. The Division holds RCA workshops and case study meetings and shares analysis results in order to support the training of root cause analysts and enhancement of analysis abilities. |

As a member of INPO and WANO, the Division promotes not only the exchange of operating experience information, but also international exchanges that include technical and personnel exchanges. |
