Safety Presentation

Safety Presentation

Mr. Kato

About 30 persons, including the employees of the Laser Atomic Separation Engineering Research Association of Japan and cooperating companies, attended the Safety Presentation.

At the beginning of the Presentation, Mr. Satoh, Executive Managing Director of Laser Atomic Separation Engineering Research Association of Japan, gave an address and said, "Our association completed research and development in 2002 and is currently dismantling and removing the facility. With an eye on 'dismantling and removal of the nuclear facility,' we set the main goals to carry out these works in a suitable and appropriate manner in accordance with corporate ethics as well as to establish various regulations and receive guidance from prefectural and municipal competent authorities.
Today, we have gained useful advice through the 'Safety Presentation' and the 'Safety Information Exchange Session' and hope to capitalize on the advice to promote our future work."

After the address, Mr. Machida, Secretary-General Manager of NSnet, introduced NSnet activities, and this was followed by a lecture entitled "The Spirit of Products manufacturing and Corporate ethics in Hitachi, Ltd." delivered by Mr. Kato, Dr. Eng. Technical Advisor, Nuclear Systems Division, Power & industrial Systems, Hitachi, Ltd.

In the lecture, he said, "As a manufacturer, our greatest desire is that delivered products will work in a steady manner without involving any accident and contribute to customers and society. Aiming at this, we are making all efforts to create and maintain safety reliability in accordance with individual stages of design, production, inspection, Installation and commissioning, but unfortunately, in fact, cause not some little confusion to the customers and society.
It is important to avoid the occurrence of accidents and troubles. If they should take place, however, it is crucial to accept our errors in a clear and straightforward manner without concealment, to earnestly cope with them and to probe the cause for the prevention of reoccurrence.
A characteristic one of our reliability improvement activities, 'Gleaning," is said to be the Hitachi's spirit of product manufacturing that may be in common with engineer and corporate ethics. It is important for each of organizations and engineers to carry out corporate activities under the strong recognition of 'contribution to rich human life and society through technologies and products' and establish a mechanism that always reminds them of the awareness. "

Safety information exchange session

Safety information exchange session

(1) Introduction of Activities to Create a Safety Culture and Exchange of Opinions

In the safety information exchange session, the Laser Atomic Separation Engineering Research Association of Japan, as part of activities to create safety culture, introduced in detail the outline of the "Action Charter concerning Corporate Ethics Compliance" that focuses on environmental conservation, respect for man's life and dignity and communication with local people and approaches to compliance with appropriate laws for recycling of waste except radioactive waste generated from dismantling works.

The main information and opinions include:

-
You employ a performance indicator. Did you refer to NSnet's performance indicator?
-

We had reported indicators such as a work quantity and checked them in regular station meetings for some time, but in reviewing the method, we systematized it, referring to a performance indicator proposed by NSnet.
