About 60 persons, including the employees of Tokai-II Power Station and cooperating companies, attended the Safety Presentation.
At the beginning of the Presentation, Mr. Okuno, Director, Tokai-II Power Station, gave an address and said, "I believe that a safety culture is created in the place where free and generous opinion exchange being made between managers and employees and mutual understanding are achieved. Let's perform to be more superior of safety culture by having farseeing and latitude mind."
After the address, Mr. Umezu, Secretary-General of NSnet, introduced NSnet activities, and this was followed by a lecture entitled "Secrets-in order Managements to sleep profoundly." delivered by Mr. Amano, former Executive Vice President, Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.
In the lecture, he said, it is important for managements to keep saying to employees everyday that establishing a single target and executing toward the target soundly is, as a result, a way to obtain company profit. Furthermore, the secret to make improvement is to find something wrong and to eliminate that. Timely receiving of correct reports by managements is also important. Whether this could be done or not is totally depend on the managements. |
At the safety information exchange session, we asked Mr. Miyabe, Deputy Director, Safety Administration, Japan Nuclear Cycle Development Institute to give an in-depth explanation about the good practices cited by the peer review of the Tokai works, Japan Nuclear Cycle Development Institute regarding "Communication with cooperating companies in Tokai works."

Japan Nuclear Cycle Development Institute and the sense of unity with cooperating companies is deepening, but we hope to foster good relationships further as we clarify the mutual responsibility structure. Furthermore, we are receiving favorable reports from many participants in friendly talks and so on at which exchanges of opinions with people in the regions take place concerning risks, but since we are also receiving some harsh opinions, continued communications activities are planned. |
