Mr. Sakakibara
|
About 30 persons, including the employees of SMM and cooperating companies, attended the Safety Presentation.
At the beginning of the Presentation, Dr. Nabeshima, Head of Research & Development Center, gave an address and said "This center is putting a priority on securing safety through various activities; however, it is still not enough. In the future as well, we will pursuit further safety with earnest initiatives."
After the address, Mr. Tanaka, General Manager of NSnet introduced NSnet activities, followed by a lecture entitled "Safety Activities Case Study: Japan Nuclear Fuel, Ltd. -Focused on Reprocessing Plant Facilities-", delivered by Mr. Sakakibara, Deputy Superintendent of Plant Construction & Operation Office, Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited.
In the presentation, Mr. Sakakibara introduced specific examples of activities, focusing on plant safety management currently underway related to reprocessing plants. He talked about how everyone supports safety, product quality and environment to ISO and JEAG, and that what is most important is the people, each and every one. |
At the safety information exchange session, we asked Mr. Sawahata, Manager of General Affairs Sec., Tokai Power Station and Tokai-II Power Station, Japan Atomic Power Co. to give an in-depth explanation about the good practices cited by the peer review of the Tokai-II Power Station, The Japan Atomic Power Co, regarding "Efforts to Disseminate Corporate Ethics into the Workplace".
The main information and opinions exchanged were:
- |
Please give us some good ideas on how to maintain various activities in order to disseminate corporate ethics. |
- |
I think it is extremely important for the top members of the organization to continue talking about ethics. As one example, successive plant managers of the Tokai Power Station, in moving from being harsh towards station employees with an attitude, are continuously implementing a number of policies in order to create an atmosphere where power station employees, including those of cooperating companies, can speak freely about issues and points for improvement. |
