On November 7, 2001, the 28th Safety Caravan was held at Global Nuclear Fuel Japan Co., Ltd. (GNF-J), which is located in Yokosuka-city, Kanagawa Prefecture.

About 60 staff of the Sendai Nuclear Power Station and staff of cooperating companies attended the safety presentation.
The director of the power station opened the safety presentation with the following greetings: "On a daily basis, we conduct operations management at our electric power stations emphasizing safety ahead of everything else. And I hope to incorporate the various suggestions from the lectures of today and fully utilize them in our future safety activities." |

Following introductions of NSnet activities, a lecturer from Hitachi, Ltd. gave a lecture titled "The spirit of creating things and the nuclear power safety culture at Hitachi." |
Sharing anecdotes about the original founders of Hitachi, the lecture touched on the various activities that Hitachi is engaged in aiming at improving safety and reliability.
In addition, the lecture included such ideas as the following: "Required to maintain and improve nuclear power safety culture is the strong will of top management to learns from past accidents and continue and convey ethics training. Also necessary are the thorough informing of this information to suppliers and outside employees, not simply limited to inside the company itself, the grasping of examples of troubles outside the company, and active dialogue with the local community."

At the discussion session, NSnet introduced positive peer review examples, as well as its exclusive website for members, and others.
Additionally, the Kyushu Electric Power introduced its activities related to the creation of a safety culture, such as personnel training, the organization of work-site environments and the incorporation of past experiences, and the like. It also introduced its activities related to improving morals, and the activities it undertakes to promote understanding by the local community, and so on.
After that, there were discussions, which resulted in the following opinions.
- At the Kyushu Electric Power among our SU activities, we are making various efforts, including activities based on the themes of the passing down and the training of technological know-how. If there are good examples of this at other companies, we would like you to introduce them in the future.
- When information is transmitted from the NSnet, we would like the concept of safety of nuclear power stations to be actively relayed in the form of PR.
