Safety presentation
|
The safety presentation was attended by approximately 110 people from the research center and cooperating companies.
Following a review of NSnet activities, a lecturer from Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited (JNFL), gave a presentation entitled "Crisis Management in the Nuclear Industry," and another lecturer from Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc.'s Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Station, gave a speech on "Activities Aimed at Creating a Safety Culture at Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Station."
|
The lecturer drew on his own experiences in outlining concrete examples of crisis management at nuclear power stations. He noted that the basis for crisis management during an accident or incident at a nuclear power facility is the prompt notification of management, who should be positioned to quickly make socially responsible decisions on policy matters related to immediate countermeasures and the prevention of problem reoccurrence.
Another lecturer introduced specific activities aimed at creating a safety culture at the Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Station, including self-examination within the nuclear power station organization, the establishment of a mutual understanding with local residents, and the promotion of cultural reform throughout the organization.
