Safety presentation

The safety presentation was attended by approximately 100 employees from the power station and related companies.

Following a summary of NSnet activities and an outline of its Peer Reviews, a lecturer from Hitachi, Ltd., gave a presentation entitled "Hitachi's Manufacturing Philosophy and Nuclear Safety Culture." The report covered such topics as efforts to improve quality assurance and reliability at Hitachi's nuclear power plants, the company's philosophy of self-reflection and nuclear safety culture, and future requirements for maintenance and improvement of the nuclear safety culture.

The lecturer noted that maintaining and improving the nuclear safety culture requires strong leadership, the application of lessons learned from past accidents in order to prevent downgrading, and an increased sense of responsibility through the promotion of interactive communication with suppliers and outside workers.
